A tour bus carrying 25 students experienced a serious accident in Williamstown, situated north-east of Adelaide. The vehicle rolled down an embankment and nearly plunged into a river, yet the students managed to escape through the bus’s back window, avoiding further injury. Nathan Parks from SA Ambulance Service described the scene as “confronting,” highlighting the narrowly avoided disaster.

When emergency services arrived at approximately 9.30 am, some passengers were still exiting the bus. One 21-year-old male was taken to the hospital suffering from neck and spinal injuries, while the remaining passengers emerged from the incident unscathed. The bus had departed from Humbug Scrub Road just prior to the crash.

The driver of the bus, who was not an employee of JC Minibuses – the company that rented out the vehicle – is now part of ongoing investigations. The company expressed relief at the lack of serious injuries and affirmed their commitment to supporting the renter involved in the incident.

The group was reportedly en route from the city to the Whispering Wall tourist spot, located just ten minutes away. Thankfully, all passengers were wearing seatbelts, which likely contributed to the minimal injuries sustained. Emergency services responded promptly, managing an incident that could have had a much more tragic outcome.
