In a shocking incident in Kew East, Melbourne, three men have been arrested following a home invasion that resulted in a man being stabbed in the head while his young children were present. The attack occurred around 4am at a residence on Oxford Street, where three other adults also sustained injuries.
According to reports, a group of five assailants violently entered the home through a window and confronted a couple who were asleep. In a disturbing turn of events, the attackers forced the wife into the room where her two toddlers—aged two and three—were sleeping, while they took her husband to another area of the house. There, he was stabbed multiple times in the head, face, and arms.
After the assault, four of the culprits fled the scene in the victim’s stolen BMW, while the fifth left in the vehicle in which they had arrived. The stolen car was later discovered abandoned on Christie Street in Deer Park.
Authorities apprehended three suspects shortly after, on Hamilton Street in Deer Park. The husband, aged 39, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital. A 34-year-old woman also received treatment for minor injuries, while two additional adults, aged 69 and 70, were hospitalised with injuries that were not life-threatening. Thankfully, the two young children and a fifth adult at the property were unharmed.
The arrested individuals include a 24-year-old man from Caroline Springs, along with a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old. Investigations are ongoing as police seek additional suspects involved in the incident.
