A teenager named Bailey Carr is seeking assistance after suffering severe injuries from an incident involving a glass lampshade thrown into his car while he was leaving a party in Perth’s Wattle Grove. The attack occurred on July 13, and has left Carr with significant facial lacerations and shards of glass embedded in his eyes.

On that night, Carr and his friends were driving along Magma Road when an unidentified individual hurled a glass lampshade through their open window, resulting in a chaotic scene. Carr described the shocking moment, saying he felt an intense ringing in his ears and a burning sensation across his face. Upon checking, he discovered blood pooling from deep cuts on his skin. His friend, who was in the passenger seat, also sustained injuries to his arm from the broken glass.

Emergency services rushed Carr to Royal Perth Hospital, where he underwent a six-hour surgical procedure to address his wounds. His mother, Kelly, recounted the distressing news from doctors indicating that her son might lose his eye, but fortunately, the surgery preserved his vision.

Bailey spent four days in the hospital, including his eighteenth birthday, while recovering from the traumatic episode. Despite the ongoing improvements in his eyesight, medical professionals have cautioned that full recovery may not be guaranteed. Carr admits that some days are more challenging than others, expressing reluctance to venture outside and disappointment at missing out on his final season of junior football, an activity that has been a central part of his life since childhood.

Carr’s family is desperate for answers as police continue to search for the perpetrator behind this violent act. In hopes of prompting anyone with information to assist, they are appealing to the public for help. Authorities encourage individuals who may know something about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
