A father from Melbourne is currently battling serious injuries in hospital following a suspected road rage incident in Tarneit. It is believed that around 6:30 PM on the previous day, the father-of-two was waiting to turn right onto Begonia Road from Leakes Road when a driver behind him began honking.
Eyewitnesses reported that the 46-year-old exited his vehicle to clarify that he was waiting to turn when the other driver allegedly reversed and then drove into him before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained critical upper body injuries, necessitating CPR on site before he was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Authorities later arrested the driver, who was found at a residence on St Nicholas Court, just five minutes away from the incident location. This individual is expected to be interviewed by police soon. The family of the victim expressed their shock and anger regarding the road rage incident, highlighting their disbelief that such violence could occur, especially to someone known for their calm demeanour.
A family member remarked on the victim’s character, emphasising how out of character such an incident is for him, saying, “He’s a really calm guy. It’s really strange that it happened to him.” The man’s 15-year-old son, who was at school waiting for his father’s pick-up when the event took place, shared his distress, stating that his father suffered multiple traumatic injuries. Expressing his heartfelt concern, he stated, “What happened to him was really bad. It should happen to no one here.” He added his belief that the offending driver should face consequences, declaring, “He really should be punished for it. Justice should be served.”
