In the second T20I against South Africa, seasoned cricketer Glenn Maxwell showcased his experience over rookie Lhuan-dre Pretorius, who is just 19 years old. Pretorius, batting at 10, attempted to advance down the pitch to Maxwell but ended up inside edging the ball onto his pad, leading to a casual dismissal as the ball rolled back to wicketkeeper Alex Carey, who quickly removed the bails.

Maxwell did not hold back, delivering a pointed rebuke to Pretorius for his lack of urgency in returning to the crease following the mix-up. The incident highlighted a moment of inexperience from the young player, as noted by commentator Mark Waugh, who called it a “bad mix-up and a bad bit of running.”

Pretorius’ wicket left South Africa struggling at 3-57, following earlier dismissals of Ryan Rickelton (14) and Aiden Markram (18), both of whom fell to the bowling of Maxwell and Ben Dwarshuis. However, the team managed to regain their footing with Dewald Brevis producing a remarkable century, helping to shift the momentum back in their favour. Maxwell concluded his bowling stint with figures of 2-44.
