A dramatic incident unfolded in Walkley Heights, Adelaide, when a car veered off the road, traversed a park, and crashed into a family’s backyard around 11 am today. Exclusive footage from 9News captures the chaos as a blue SUV appeared to mount a roundabout before heading towards residential properties, possibly with the driver unconscious.

Hazen Kourbaj, a local father, expressed his disbelief at the situation, revealing that his children had only been playing with their puppy in the same area minutes before the collision. He shared his profound relief that they were unharmed, stating, “I’m so thankful they weren’t there. They were there just a few minutes before.” He witnessed the close call for children playing in the nearby park, who ran for safety as the vehicle jumped the curb.

The runaway vehicle also destroyed a bus stop during its erratic journey. Kourbaj rushed to check on the driver, who, despite sustaining some injuries, was fortunate to escape serious harm. He recounted attempts to assist the driver, who was attempting to exit the car, but he was unable to help.

Authorities confirmed the 70-year-old driver did not have drugs or alcohol in his system. An investigation is currently underway to determine if a medical issue led to the driver’s loss of control.
