Brandon Smith faced an unexpected incident ahead of his milestone 150th NRL match when he was questioned by Queensland Police upon arriving at Coolangatta Airport. The South Sydney Rabbitohs hooker, who has recently returned to training after a knee injury sustained in his initial game with Souths, is set to play this Sunday.

Smith flew to Queensland with his teammates but was approached by police shortly after their arrival. According to a statement from the Queensland Police, a 29-year-old male—presumably Smith—was spoken to and subsequently released without charges. The specifics surrounding the questioning remain unclear, but it is important to note that there are no allegations of wrongdoing against Smith.

Having made a mid-season switch to the Rabbitohs from the Sydney Roosters, Smith joined the club while still recuperating from an ACL injury. His return was initially marked by a clash against Manly in round 18; however, he later suffered another knee injury that postponed his long-awaited milestone appearance for over a month. In recognition of his achievement, club legend Issac Luke presented him with his jersey.

Alongside Smith, fellow Rabbitohs star Latrell Mitchell will also be making a comeback from a quadriceps injury, adding to the significance of this match against the Titans. Currently, the Rabbitohs find themselves at the bottom of the NRL ladder, and a victory could provide a much-needed boost, elevating them above their rivals, the Gold Coast.
