A police statement confirmed that a body was discovered around 9 am during a search operation at a property in Birmingham Gardens, located approximately nine kilometres west of Newcastle’s central business district. This area, along with nearby Jesmond and Martins Creek to the north, had been under search by both police and the State Emergency Service (SES) from May through June. While the body has yet to be officially identified, authorities believe it may belong to a woman who has been reported missing. A report regarding the incident will be submitted to the coroner for further investigation.
