The collision involved a Ford Falcon and a Toyota Corolla, with four passengers in the Corolla and two in the Falcon suffering injuries, according to police reports. Among the injured, a woman in her 30s sustained severe upper body injuries, while another woman in her 50s suffered injuries to her lower body. Both were critically injured and taken to Alfred Hospital for treatment.
Among the children, a primary school-aged girl has been reported in critical condition at the Royal Children’s Hospital, while her male counterpart is in stable condition at the same facility.
A neighbour who witnessed the crash rushed to provide assistance, managing to free two trapped victims after struggling to navigate the car seats and seatbelts. He informed reporters that he had to return for scissors to cut them out.
A man and woman in their 20s from one of the vehicles stayed at the scene to help police with the ongoing investigation. They were treated for minor injuries and subsequently taken to Dandenong Hospital.
