LEGO Horizon Adventures combines the inventive essence of LEGO with the expansive narrative of PlayStation’s Horizon series, promising a unique gaming experience. In a discussion with 9news.com.au, Stephane Varrault from Guerrilla Games and David Wilson from Studio Gobo elaborated on the game’s creative ambitions and the challenges faced during development.
The game inspires players to unleash their creativity both digitally and with physical LEGO bricks, as certain quests encourage players to build at will, while others reference actual LEGO constructs. Wilson mentioned the challenge of replicating LEGO’s tactile satisfaction in a digital format, but noted a successful collaboration with LEGO to capture that essence.
Notably, LEGO Horizon Adventures marks a significant shift as the first PlayStation first-party title available on Nintendo Switch, broadening its audience and highlighting Sony’s commitment to accessibility.
Utilising the Switch’s capabilities, the game mimics the LEGO building experience through the Joy-Con controls, blending virtual and physical play seamlessly. Varrault reassured that Guerrilla remains dedicated to expanding the Horizon universe, promising more adventures for Aloy.
Additionally, fans can anticipate real-world LEGO sets related to the game set for release in March next year. LEGO Horizon Adventures is currently accessible on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
