The Wallabies achieved a commendable 22-12 victory over the British and Irish Lions, concluding the series on a positive note despite challenging weather conditions. A lightning storm prompted a 30-minute interruption early in the second half while the Wallabies were ahead 8-0. However, the delay didn’t stifle their momentum; Max Jorgensen capitalised on a Lions mistake, sprinting 50 metres to score in the 54th minute.

Jac Morgan, who had a controversial role in the previous Test, responded for the Lions not long after, scoring their first try to keep the contest alive. However, the game swung in favour of the Wallabies following a yellow card issued to Lions substitute Ronan Kelleher. Tate McDermott extended the lead further with a try in the 71st minute, effectively sealing the win for Australia.

Despite a late effort from Will Stuart that saw the Lions score right at full-time with a pick-and-drive try, it was ultimately a triumphant conclusion for the Wallabies, who prevented a series clean sweep. Tim Horan expressed his admiration for the team’s performance, stating they had won back the support of their fans, showcasing the pride associated with wearing the gold jersey.

The match kicked off with early drama as Dylan Pietsch scored the first try. Tensions flared when Will Skelton avoided a yellow card after a robust push, igniting a brief skirmish on the field. As the first half progressed, Tom Lynagh added a penalty goal to put the Wallabies up 8-0, shortly before leaving the field for a head injury assessment following a high tackle from Dan Sheehan, which the TMO appeared to overlook.

The second half commenced with an unfortunate incident as Lions lock James Ryan was knocked unconscious due to an accidental collision with Skelton’s knee, prompting further altercations but no penalisation from the officials. The match officials intervened to halt the game upon the sighting of lightning while Ryan was being attended to.

With the score at 8-0, the Wallabies maintained their composure to finish strong, building confidence ahead of their upcoming Tests against South Africa in August.
