Mike Donilon, a former senior advisor to President Joe Biden, recently testified before the House Oversight Committee, revealing he was compensated $US4 million (approximately $6.2 million) for his role in Biden’s 2024 campaign. According to sources, Donilon stood to earn an additional $US4 million contingent on Biden’s reelection.

While his initial salary was mentioned in the book Original Sin, the potential extra payment linked to a second term had not previously been disclosed. Donilon’s testimony involved defending Biden’s capability to serve as president despite ongoing discussions surrounding the former president’s mental and physical health.

In his statement, which was shared with CNN, Donilon portrayed Biden as an engaged leader, capable of addressing crucial domestic and international challenges. He expressed unwavering support for Biden, asserting that he believed in the president’s leadership from the moment he took office and continued to do so throughout his presidency.

This testimony occurs amidst a Republican-led investigation into Biden’s cognitive abilities, which has seen numerous former aides interviewed. Donilon’s remarks come alongside broader scrutiny from the committee, which is probing claims regarding potential efforts to conceal issues related to Biden’s health. Meanwhile, other Biden aides have opted not to cooperate, invoking their Fifth Amendment rights after receiving subpoenas.

The recent discussions also included testimony from former Biden advisor Steve Ricchetti, who described the investigation as an "unprecedented effort" designed to intimidate the previous administration. Several aides, including White House doctor Dr. Kevin O’Connor and senior advisors, have chosen to plead the Fifth in light of questions posed by the committee.

As the investigation intensifies, the focus remains on the implications of these assertions regarding the former president’s health and the broader political landscape leading up to the 2024 election.
