Tye Alroe, the 39-year-old founder and CEO of Alroe Constructions, tragically passed away from a heart attack while exercising at a gym in Burleigh Heads on Tuesday afternoon. He collapsed after feeling unwell, and despite the swift response from emergency services, efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Before establishing himself in the property development sector, Alroe briefly pursued a career in rugby league, having signed with the Melbourne Storm but ultimately departing before making his debut. In 2012, he founded Alroe Constructions, which has since grown to manage projects valued at around $250 million, primarily focusing on developments in south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales.
His unexpected death has left a significant impact on the Gold Coast construction community, with many industry figures expressing their sorrow and paying tribute to his legacy. A post from Capra Build Co. noted the loss of a “pioneer” who was relentless in his pursuits, while Callum Smith from Bluewater Interiors reflected on the profound influence Alroe had on those around him.
Alroe is survived by his partner Nikki, their daughter Poppy, his parents Vicki and John, and his sister Courtney. His passing is mourned deeply by colleagues and friends, who remember him as a dedicated individual who inspired many throughout his life and career.
