The AFL is poised to look into a concerning social media message that seemingly made a threat towards Melbourne Demons coach Simon Goodwin following the team’s narrow loss to St Kilda on Sunday evening. The post, made on X just moments after the match, featured an image claiming to show Goodwin’s vehicle in an underground parking area. The user, under the handle “Kozzy Owns You,” stated they were “waiting outside Simon Goodwin’s car,” leaving fans unsettled.

Accompanying the post was a caption intended to reassure Melbourne supporters, saying, “Don’t fret fellow Melbourne fans you won’t need to worry any further.” At the time of reporting, the post had not been removed from the platform.

Affirming the post’s seriousness, Tom Morris from Nine confirmed that both the AFL and the Demons are aware of the situation. He stated he wouldn’t be surprised if the integrity unit investigates the matter within the week. Numerous users have since reacted, some alerting Victoria Police to the post.

As of now, both the AFL and the Demons have refrained from making any public statements regarding the threat. This incident follows a recent case where a Collingwood fan received a five-year ban for making a threat towards Carlton coach Michael Voss via text message, highlighting the league’s ongoing concerns about the safety of its coaches and officials.
