Three teenagers are facing allegations of leading police on a chaotic chase through the streets of Brisbane. The pursuit began when officers attempted to intercept a stolen white Toyota Landcruiser, reportedly being driven by a 14-year-old. The joyride took a dangerous turn as the youths weaved through traffic on the Bruce Highway, resulting in several vehicles being affected during their reckless escapade.

The chase ultimately ended on Laver Street, where the vehicle became immobilised with a large log stuck underneath. The teenagers are then said to have abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, prompting authorities to advise local residents to remain indoors for their safety.

Witness Melissa recounted the scene, mentioning the arrival of the Polair helicopter and an extensive police presence, including the dog squad, which surrounded a nearby park. In an attempt to evade capture, the teens scrambled over fences, with two of them even crashing a nearby 30th birthday party. Attendee Kirsty Rider described the situation as she relaxed with family when the intruders jumped the fence.

Despite their efforts to escape, the teenagers were ultimately apprehended in a backyard on Emerson Drive. Resident Phil Gibson recounted how police quickly descended on one of the fleeing youths, leading to a swift takedown. Spectators watched in relief as the police action unfolded, breaking into applause as the situation was resolved.

As of now, no charges have been filed against the teenagers. Meanwhile, Queensland Premier David Crisafulli sidestepped inquiries regarding his targets for reducing youth crime, a key aspect of his leadership agenda. While he announced plans for an intensive early intervention programme, he refrained from disclosing any specific numerical goals related to crime reduction.
