A campaign is currently underway in Queensland aimed at enticing Hollywood star Margot Robbie to return home for a special project linked to the Olympic Games. Screen Queensland has reached out to the acclaimed actress, known for her role in Barbie, proposing that she collaborate on a film that would help spotlight the region in anticipation of the Brisbane 2032 Olympics.

Robbie, who was born and raised on the Gold Coast, has a strong connection to the area, having enjoyed holidays there in the past. Notably, she also made a visit last year to receive the Trailblazer Award at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards held on the Gold Coast.

Given her demanding schedule, film industry executives believe that a compelling project is necessary to lure Robbie back to Queensland. They see the upcoming Brisbane Olympics as a prime opportunity to showcase the local film industry on a global scale.

To this end, Screen Queensland has suggested that Robbie’s production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, be involved in creating the film. The initiative aims to not only celebrate the Brisbane games but also elevate Queensland’s profile in the international film landscape.
