NRLW player Millie Elliott has publicly expressed her dissatisfaction with the portrayal of her character in the recently launched Rugby League 26 video game. On Triple M, she humorously remarked that her character bears no resemblance to her, while her husband’s, Newcastle Knights forward Adam Elliott, looks substantially like him. “It looks nothing like me. Adam’s looks like his own doppelganger, it looks exactly like him,” she quipped.

Eels forward Kennedy Cherrington also voiced her concerns, stating on X, “This might seem petty, but as a player featured in the new RL26 game, I’m not happy.” She reflected on the overall discontent among players, pointing out issues with facial scans, player ratings, and gameplay quality: “Maybe we should just be grateful that we’re in the game, but overall I know the fans aren’t happy too.”

Reports have surfaced that the Rugby League Players’ Association (RLPA) has raised issues regarding the game, with some athletes reportedly unavailable for scanning by developer Big Ant Studios. The studio’s CEO, Ross Symons, responded to these criticisms, stating that they took significant measures to accurately capture both NRL and NRLW players who participated in the photogrammetry sessions.

Despite the game’s official release on July 17, several players have raised concerns about technical glitches and inaccuracies, which have been publicly displayed across social media platforms. For instance, retired Dragons forward Tom Eisenhuth received an unexpectedly high overall rating of 90. Following the game’s launch, Big Ant Studios announced on X that they would provide customers with complimentary pro team credits as compensation for the issues experienced.

Since then, the developer has been actively communicating updates related to problems encountered in the game, demonstrating their intent to address player and fan concerns.
