Iconic American rapper Snoop Dogg may be making his way to Australia for the upcoming AFL Grand Final, with reports indicating he is under consideration to headline the pre-match show. Tom Morris, Nine’s chief AFL reporter, reveals that the legendary artist could perform for the estimated 100,000 fans at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on the final Saturday of September.

With a career spanning over 30 years, Snoop Dogg has released more than 20 studio albums and has sold over 37 million worldwide, featuring hits like “Beautiful” and “Drop It Like It’s Hot.” While the AFL has yet to confirm his involvement, a spokesperson stated that an announcement regarding the pre-game entertainment is forthcoming. The spokesperson expressed enthusiasm about providing another spectacular show at the Grand Final, which attracts millions of viewers globally.

Interestingly, Snoop Dogg will perform in the Philippines just two days ahead of the Grand Final, suggesting a busy schedule. Previous performers at the event include major international artists such as Katy Perry, Robbie Williams, and KISS, establishing a tradition of high-profile entertainment.

In the 2022 Super Bowl LVI, Snoop Dogg shared the stage with notable acts like Dr Dre and Eminem, showcasing his status in the music industry. Additionally, he gained popularity as a “special correspondent” for NBC during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Radio host Russel Howcroft hinted that the AFL is taking charge of booking the Grand Final acts this year, indicating a shift from relying on third-party agents, which may lead to a more direct approach in securing top talent.

The next AFL Grand Final is set for Saturday, September 27, 2025, but all eyes are currently on whether Snoop Dogg will grace the stage this year.
