CEO James Quincey expressed confidence that this new cane sugar version will resonate with consumers and emphasized Coca-Cola’s commitment to using various sweetening methods across its range, including other beverages like lemonade and coffee.
Former President Donald Trump recently claimed he influenced Coca-Cola’s decision to adopt cane sugar more broadly, yet the company clarified that its existing recipes will remain unchanged. HFCS has been a staple in American-produced Coca-Cola for years, mainly due to its cost-effectiveness as an ingredient. Critics, including health advocates, have voiced concerns over HFCS, labelling it detrimental to health.
