In a peculiar incident in Melbourne’s southeast, a driver has lost his vehicle after police noticed some unusual modifications while he was driving. On the afternoon of July 21, officers observed a burgundy BMW on Greaves Road in Cranbourne North that stood out for its lack of a bonnet, leaving the engine fully exposed.

Upon pulling the car over, the police found the bonnet missing and were further surprised to discover that the front seats had been removed entirely. Instead of sitting in a traditional car seat, the 64-year-old driver from Narre Warren South was perched on a plastic garden chair.

When questioned by the officers, the driver admitted he was aware that his car was not roadworthy and was en route to acquire some necessary parts. As a result of the inspection, he was issued a defect notice and is anticipated to face traffic offence charges through a summons.

This incident highlights a rather eccentric approach to vehicle modification and raises questions about road safety.
