A Qantas flight heading to Melbourne had to divert and make an emergency landing in Mildura due to a technical issue shortly after taking off around 10:45am. Flight QF2079 was seen circling back to the departure airport after initially leaving Mildura Airport. Fortunately, the landing was executed without incident, and there were no injuries reported among passengers or crew members.
Emergency services were on standby to greet the aircraft upon its return, a standard protocol for priority landings. Although the specifics of the technical issue have not been disclosed, Qantas indicated that this incident did not constitute an emergency landing. A spokesperson for Qantas reassured that the pilots are thoroughly trained for such scenarios and expressed gratitude to passengers for their patience during what must have been a disconcerting ordeal.
The airline has since begun arranging alternative flights for those on board and stated that engineers would conduct a thorough inspection of the aircraft before it resumes service.
