Leichhardt Oval set the stage for an exhilarating finish on a Sunday afternoon, as Adam Doueihi delivered a last-minute field goal to cap off a thrilling match against the Titans, ending the game at 21-20. With mere seconds remaining and the scores tied, Doueihi took the kick, which was notably shaky, yet crucially made it over the bar. Fox League commentator Cooper Cronk praised his efforts, stating, “Adam Doueihi take a bow, that is a tremendous kick with the season on the line.”

The match unfolded with an electric start as the Gold Coast Titans grabbed an early lead through Jayden Campbell’s brilliant pass that set up Jaylan De Groot for a try. Taylan May, back in action, quickly followed up with his own try and provided an assist for Jeral Skelton. The Titans maintained momentum, leading at half-time after another try from Phillip Sami alongside De Groot’s brace.

In the second half, neither team could gain a clear advantage. A pair of penalty goals from Api Koroisau levelled the match, bringing the score to 14-14. AJ Brimson then put the Titans back in front with 15 minutes remaining, appearing to seal the victory. However, Skelton’s second try in the 77th minute levelled the scores once more at 20-20, as Doueihi’s sideline conversion attempt fell short.

As the match neared its conclusion, a dangerous tackle by Reagan Campbell-Gillard opened up a scoring opportunity for the Tigers. On a pivotal third tackle, Jarome Luai’s clever manipulation of the defence was cut short just shy of the try line, prompting calls for a field goal from the commentary box. After a messy attacking sequence, Doueihi received the ball and, despite the lack of finesse in his kick, it sailed high enough to secure the win.

Post-match, Doueihi expressed pride in his performance, acknowledging his preparation for critical moments and reflecting on the bittersweet feeling regarding his goalkicking. He conveyed gratitude for the chance to clinch a victory at Leichhardt: “But to come back to Leichhardt again and give the fans a win … it’s a good feeling,” he said.

With this match, the Wests Tigers provided yet another thrilling chapter in their unpredictable season, proving once more their ability to dramatic effect, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.
