Australian cricketer Travis Head has been awarded the 2025 Allan Border Medal, recognising his impressive performances across all formats. In the past year, Head accumulated an impressive 636 runs in nine Test matches, scored 539 runs from 15 T20Is, and exhibited a notable strike rate of 120 in five ODIs.
Receiving the medal from Australian coach Andrew McDonald while in Sri Lanka ahead of the second Test, Head expressed both surprise and humility. He acknowledged the honour amid laughter, referring to his previous near-misses for the award and emphasising his enjoyment of the season. “It’s been a good year,” he stated, noting his contributions to the team and highlighting the memorable Border-Gavaskar Trophy victory against India on home soil as a significant moment.
Head won the medal with 208 votes, surpassing fellow players Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins. Additionally, he was named the Men’s ODI Player of the Year. Hazlewood claimed the Men’s Test Player of the Year accolade, while Adam Zampa secured the T20 International Player of the Year title. Head’s success and modesty characterise a fruitful year in Australian cricket.
