A woman has been charged with attempted murder following a fire at a house in Melbourne that occurred in May, which left two young girls in critical condition. The incident unfolded on the evening of May 21 when flames engulfed a two-storey residence on Terrigal Street around 9.40pm.
Inside the home, emergency services discovered a 37-year-old woman along with two girls, aged seven and eight at the time. All three were found unconscious and were subsequently rushed to the hospital, where they remained in a critical state. A fourth resident, a 36-year-old man, was fortunately absent during the incident.
Investigations suggest that the fire may have been ignited by an exploding gas cylinder. After a thorough inquiry, police arrested the 37-year-old woman yesterday. She faces two counts of attempted murder and is currently in custody, scheduled to appear in court today.
This tragic event has raised significant concerns within the community, particularly regarding the safety of residential properties and the implications of such devastating incidents.
