Two men have been charged with the murder of 65-year-old Kim Duncan following a drive-by shooting in Ambarvale, located in Sydney’s south-west. Authorities are also searching for a third individual involved in the incident.
The tragic event occurred around 11pm on April 14, when Duncan was struck in the leg by a bullet as her home on Dickens Road was riddled with gunfire. Eyewitnesses reported that a black sedan fired up to nine shots at the property. It appears that Duncan was not the intended target of the shooting, as police do not believe she was specifically targeted.
Despite the efforts of paramedics for approximately an hour, Duncan succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Neighbours recounted the chaos that unfolded when Duncan’s son, Shaine, returned home to find the shooting in progress. Witnesses described his distress as he yelled, “My mum’s been shot,” upon realising what had occurred. Shaine’s partner, aged 21, was also present at the house during the shooting, but she was unharmed.
CCTV footage from the area captured three men, and the police acted quickly, arresting two suspects aged 32 and 19 at their residences in Liverpool and Belmore the following day. Both men have been charged with murder and are currently in custody, having been denied bail. They are scheduled to appear before the Bankstown Local Court.
The community remains shaken by this senseless act of violence, with neighbours expressing their sorrow. As investigations continue, police are actively pursuing leads to locate the third suspect captured on video.
