Police in Sydney’s far south-west are seeking witnesses following a serious incident involving a nine-year-old girl who was struck by a dirt bike on Sunday evening. Emergency services rushed to a park on Copperfield Drive in Rosemeadow at approximately 5:45 PM after receiving reports of the accident.
Authorities believe the rider of an unregistered dirt bike traversed a sporting field before descending a hill, where they collided with the young girl, running over her head and chest. After the incident, the rider fled the scene while nearby witnesses quickly came to assist the injured girl.
Paramedics at the site provided initial treatment for her facial injuries before she was transported to Westmead Children’s Hospital, where she is currently in serious condition.
An active investigation is underway to locate the responsible individual, and police urge anyone who may have witnessed the accident or who has additional information to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers.
