A 28-year-old woman is currently in intensive care with serious injuries after an e-bike accident in Adelaide last night. The crash happened on Bains Road in Morphett Vale as rider Skye Barker was heading home from a visit with friends. Witnesses reported that she appeared to lose control of her e-bike, veering onto the grass and ultimately colliding with an oncoming car.
One bystander described the incident, stating, “She was on the grass and more or less, did a big loop around while her feet were dragging behind her out of control.” Another witness observed that the e-bike quickly went out of control, saying, “It’s just one of those things… it just catapulted her.”
A security camera captured footage of the moment the e-bike veered into the path of the vehicle. Friends and neighbours rushed to help Skye until paramedics arrived to take her to the hospital with critical injuries. Thankfully, her family has reported that her condition is improving, and they believe her helmet may have played a crucial role in saving her life.
The driver of the car involved in the collision, an 18-year-old woman from Christies Beach, sustained no injuries. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
