Authorities in Sydney’s Inner West have released CCTV footage in connection with a suspicious fire at a salon on Burwood Road, which occurred in the early hours of June 13. Emergency services received a call around 5 am and arrived to find the salon engulfed in flames. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, though the establishment suffered significant damage.
As firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, residents living in an apartment above the salon were evacuated to ensure their safety. The case has drawn further attention as police responded to the same location on two occasions—July 2 and July 5—after reports surfaced of several men attempting to break in.
The footage released shows two men who were seen in the area during the incident. The first individual has a medium build and was dressed in an orange high-visibility jumper coupled with dark trousers featuring high-visibility stripes. Notably, CCTV footage captures him shaking flames from his pants as he fled the scene.
The second man, described as having a thin build, wore a dark hoodie adorned with white stripes and black pants. It is believed both individuals exited the area via Nicholl Lane following the fire.
Investigators are urging anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward, encouraging the public to contact police or reach out through Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000. The investigation aims to shed light on what officials are treating as a “suspicious” occurrence.
