Today, hundreds of participants flocked to collect their race essentials ahead of tomorrow’s Gold Coast Marathon, highlighting substantial interest from both local and visiting runners. This surge in activity has proven beneficial for nearby businesses, which are taking advantage of the athlete influx.

Defending champion Andy Buchanan has expressed his enthusiasm for the competitive atmosphere, stating, “A lot of people play different mind games and I quite enjoy that.” Isaac Heyne, who secured second place last year, is determined to outdo himself this time, aiming for victory after narrowly missing out in 2023.

Local establishments are joining in on the marathon spirit. Ed Hatcher of Alfred’s Apartment mentioned their offerings, such as an “electrolyte granita” and “custom kits,” aiming to enhance the event experience. Meanwhile, the popular Gemelli Italian restaurant has partnered with Pace Athletic to cater pre-race meals, with Alec Carney noting, “Everyone comes to Gemelli for the carb load, pizza, and pasta so we thought why not get involved, bring the community together.”

As the race draws near, preparations are underway, including road closures from Paradise Point to Miami starting at 3:30 AM, with no parking available along the route. Excitement is building for a vibrant event that promises to be both a competitive and community-focused celebration.
