Nine has secured the exclusive Australian television rights for both the Premier League and the FA Cup, following a deal with Optus Sport. Beginning in the 2025-26 season, all fixtures from these competitions will be available for live streaming on Stan Sport. Notably, Australian viewers will have the opportunity to watch selected Premier League matches in 4K ultra-high definition for the first time.
Alongside the Premier League and FA Cup coverage, the broadcast agreement also encompasses major international tournaments, including the UEFA Women’s Euro, Japan’s J.League, and the National Women’s Soccer League in the United States.
Nine’s CEO, Matt Stanton, expressed that this acquisition represents a significant advancement in the company’s digital growth strategy. He highlighted the Premier League’s status as the world’s most-watched football league and reaffirmed Nine’s commitment to being the leading sports broadcaster in Australia.
Stanton stated, “We are proud to deliver these iconic competitions to Australian audiences through Stan Sport.” He noted that with over 20 million Australians interacting with Nine’s platforms each month, the company is well-positioned to amplify interest in both the Premier League and Emirates FA Cup. He mentioned that Nine aims to leverage its extensive reach to engage a wider audience and achieve substantial commercial success for their partners.
The upcoming 2025-26 Premier League season is set to commence on August 16, 2025, with an opening match between Liverpool and Bournemouth at Anfield.
