A man in his twenties sustained a gunshot wound while seated in a parked vehicle on Hickeys Lane, Penrith, shortly before 10pm last night. Emergency services promptly arrived on the scene, where paramedics provided initial treatment before transporting him to hospital. Fortunately, his injuries are considered non-life-threatening.

At approximately 10.15pm, a car fire was reported on Kindlebark Close in the neighbouring area of Claremont Meadows. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, and the police have since established two separate crime scenes to investigate the incidents. Detectives are currently exploring the possibility of a connection between the shooting and the car fire.
