This afternoon, a significant incident occurred in Surry Hills, central Sydney, where a fire broke out in a Mission Australia halfway house. Emergency services responded promptly at around 5pm after receiving reports of flames erupting from the building’s third floor.
Witnesses described a dramatic scene, with flames visible and smoke billowing down Denham Street. All residents were safely evacuated from the structure, and fortunately, there were no reported injuries as a result of the fire.
In response to the emergency, 12 fire trucks and 36 firefighters were deployed to manage the situation effectively. The fire was brought under control quickly, showcasing the rapid response by Fire and Rescue NSW.
Following the incident, Fire and Rescue NSW will launch an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze.
