Emergency services came to the aid of a man and his dog who found themselves stranded in a boat amid crocodile-infested waters in the Northern Territory. A rescue helicopter was dispatched to the South Alligator River in Kakadu National Park after the man activated his emergency beacon earlier this month.

Upon arrival, rescuers successfully winched both the man and his pet into the helicopter without any injuries reported. Dean Blackney, a Flight Nurse with CareFlight, commented, “This was certainly one of the more memorable rescues for our team.” He added, “We’re trained for all kinds of scenarios, but it’s not every day we winch up a dog!”

CareFlight underscored the critical importance of having an emergency beacon when venturing into remote locations.
