In a shocking incident in regional Victoria, three armed intruders allegedly invaded a home in Yea, located approximately 110km north-east of Melbourne, early this morning. The intruders, reportedly wielding two guns and a machete, broke into the residence on Melba Highway just before 2am, where they confronted a 58-year-old man.

The intruders are believed to have demanded money and firearms from the man. Following the assault, they forced him into the boot of his own car, but he managed to escape. While he was outside the vehicle, one of the assailants threatened him again, while the other two set his house ablaze.

Witnesses claim that the offenders also doused the man with petrol before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. During their assault, they stole three firearms from the property.

Firefighters arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames, leading to a battle to control the fire that lasted around two hours. The Country Fire Authority reported that the house was completely destroyed in the blaze.

Fortunately, the man sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene. Authorities are currently investigating the violent episode and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward. As of now, no arrests have been reported in connection with this incident.
