In a recent escalation of conflict, Israeli officials have reported that over 80 individuals sustained mostly minor injuries during missile strikes that caused damage in Haifa, Tel Aviv, and along the coast. Following an Iranian missile barrage targeting Israel, which allegedly involved about 40 missiles, Israel’s military responded by swiftly neutralising the launchers responsible for the strikes. They also commenced attacks on military targets situated in western Iran.

Iran’s state media showcased footage of former test-firings of the Khorramshahr-4 missile, claiming it played a significant role in the missile offensive against Israel. This missile is notable for its ability to carry a substantial payload within a range of up to 2,000 kilometres, which is reportedly in compliance with imposed restrictions by Iran’s supreme leader. Analysts suggest that the missile has a warhead weighing 1,500 kilograms and is named in remembrance of an Iranian city involved in intense combat during the Iran-Iraq War of the 1980s. Additionally, the missile carries the title Kheibar, referencing a historical event involving a Jewish stronghold conquered by Muslims in the 7th century.

In a follow-up to the tension, Israel reportedly struck two Iranian F-5 fighter jets located at Dezful airport, releasing footage that appeared to capture the moment of destruction. Although Israel has targeted older F-14 aircraft operated by Iran in the past, the current status of many of these jets remains uncertain due to mechanical issues and lack of parts. Alongside these operations, Israel has conducted strikes in the vicinity of Isfahan’s airport, but Iran has not acknowledged any losses of aircraft or military equipment in this ongoing conflict.

The situation highlights a significant escalation between Israel and Iran, with both sides actively engaging in military actions that could further complicate an already volatile regional dynamic.
