A tragic incident in Melbourne has left the community in mourning after a 51-year-old father of two, Anisul Karim, was fatally struck by a vehicle on Heatherton Road in Endeavor Hills around 7.45pm. Emergency services were unable to save him, and he died at the scene.

Karim was well-regarded as a devoted father, husband, and uncle, and his untimely death has deeply affected his family and friends. Milon Islam, a close friend, expressed the profound shock and sorrow felt within their community, particularly among local Muslim families. He described Karim as a cherished and honest friend whose loss is incomprehensible to his wife and young children.

In light of this incident, Karim’s loved ones are calling for immediate action to improve pedestrian safety along that stretch of road, which has seen a pedestrian fatality less than a year earlier. The driver involved in the accident stayed on the scene, and police are currently treating the event as an unfortunate accident.

Residents are advocating for safety enhancements, including a reduction in the speed limit on the 80km/h section of road, citing that no one should endure the tragedy that has befallen Karim’s family or the previous victim’s kin. The community is urging local authorities to address these safety concerns to prevent further loss of life.
