A tragic incident unfolded at M Brothers Kebab Shop in Auburn yesterday during lunchtime when 47-year-old Samimjan Azari was ambushed by two masked gunmen. As she worked in the kitchen, Azari was shot twice in the torso and is currently in a coma in hospital after losing a significant amount of blood from the attack. Her employer, Mohammad Rahimi, rushed to her aid and expressed great concern for her wellbeing, stating that his staff are his top priority. Fortunately, Azari’s condition has been reported as stable by police.
In addition to Azari, a 25-year-old associate of her assailant was shot in the face during the incident and is now in critical condition. Rahimi narrowly avoided injury himself, as bullets grazed him during the shocking attack.
CCTV footage from the kebab shop captured the horrifying moments when the gunmen rushed in, with one victim attempting to defend himself using stools. This ambush marks the fourth attempted assassination on Azari, highlighting the extreme danger surrounding him, according to Taskforce Falcon Commander, Detective Superintendent Jason Box.
Police are currently investigating the relationship between this shooting and three burnt-out vehicles found in various locations, including Harris Park and Merrylands, which may also be linked to previous attempts on Azari’s life. Notably, one of the burnt cars was associated with an earlier incident in Rozelle back in June.
This incident has sparked significant concern within the community and highlights ongoing issues related to gang violence and targeted attacks. The impact on the victims and their families is profound, and many are hoping for a swift recovery for those injured.
