The manhunt for Vance Boelter, the prime suspect in the tragic shooting of former Minnesota lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark, has concluded with his arrest late Sunday night. Boelter, aged 57, is accused of fatally shooting the couple at their residence on June 14. He is also suspected of seriously injuring Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, at their home located approximately 15 kilometres away.

The FBI played a pivotal role in the search, offering a reward of up to US$50,000 (around A$77,000) for information that would lead to Boelter’s capture. They circulated his photograph, depicting him wearing a distinctive tan cowboy hat, and sought public assistance in locating him.

Following the tragic incident, authorities reported that Boelter fled the scene on foot. His arrest brings a measure of closure to a distressing case that has deeply affected the Minnesota community. Furthermore, reports indicate that Boelter may have been donning a police uniform during the horrific events.

As he remains in custody, further legal proceedings are expected, focusing on the serious charges against him and the emotional aftermath left by these violent acts.
