A search operation is currently underway in a northern Melbourne park as authorities investigate the mysterious disappearance of Joshua Bishop, a 23-year-old man from Sunbury. Bishop was last seen by his housemate on Lalor Crescent around 9.30pm on Tuesday, May 27, and was reported missing two days later by his mother.
Concerns about Bishop’s welfare have risen, as his behaviour is described as completely out of character. The search, involving police, mounted officers, and State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers, is focused on Broadmeadows Valley Park, where he was last tracked via his phone on the night of his disappearance. This park has already been searched on June 4. Notably, neither his mobile phone nor bank accounts have been accessed since he went missing, and he has not made contact with anyone, including friends and family.
Detectives have stated that they cannot rule out the possibility that his disappearance may be suspicious. Although Bishop has no prior reports of being missing and is not known to police, investigations are underway to determine if he may have been involved in any criminal activities.
Physically, Bishop is described as Caucasian, of average build, with short blonde hair and blue eyes. When he was last seen, he was wearing a black singlet and tracksuit pants. Authorities are urging anyone with possible information regarding his whereabouts or who may have seen him since May 27 to come forward.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 or to submit reports online to assist in the investigation.
