A construction worker has tragically lost his life following a suspected trench collapse at a housing estate development situated north of Melbourne. The incident occurred at a rural site on Quinns Road in Kilmore, approximately 65 kilometres from the city centre, with emergency services alerted at around 11:30 am after reports emerged of a person being trapped beneath the earth.
It is understood that earthworks were ongoing when the unfortunate event took place. WorkSafe has been informed of the industrial incident, and their inspectors are currently responding to the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident. Additionally, a report will be compiled for the coroner to examine the details of the incident further.
