Two men are on the run following a brutal attack on an 18-year-old who was refuelling at a service station in Doreen, Melbourne. The incident occurred around 9:50 PM when the victim was approached by the two assailants, who were masked with balaclavas and armed with machetes. During the confrontation, they struck him in the forearm.
The victim’s friends, who were inside the vehicle, swiftly emerged to chase the attackers before calling for help. Local businessman Anthony de Simone expressed his shock at the violence occurring in the area, stating it was devastating and unexpected. Many residents echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the fear and anxiety such close-to-home incidents evoke.
After the attack, the injured teenager managed to reach a nearby McDonald’s for initial assistance before being taken to Northern Hospital, where he is reported to be in a stable condition.
The community is currently on high alert in light of this ordeal, with residents expressing feelings of insecurity and worry for their safety, particularly for younger individuals like de Simone’s son who will soon venture out independently.
The two offenders, who escaped in their vehicle, remain at large, prompting police to launch an investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to step forward.
