A tragic accident occurred in Greenacre, Sydney, last night, resulting in the death of a teenage boy and serious injuries to three members of his family. Emergency services responded to reports of a collision between a truck and a hatchback at the intersection of Hume Highway and Worth Street around 8.10pm.

The 16-year-old passenger in the hatchback was pronounced dead at the scene, highlighting the severity of the incident. Another passenger, reportedly a young boy, was in critical condition and was transported to Westmead Children’s Hospital. The driver of the hatchback, a woman, also suffered critical injuries and was taken to the same hospital. A third passenger, a man, was treated by paramedics and subsequently hospitalised in stable condition.

The truck driver was taken to Bankstown Hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing following the crash. Authorities have established a crime scene to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. While the Hume Highway was temporarily closed, it has since been reopened to traffic.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of road travel, and the local community is mourning the loss of a young life while praying for the recovery of the injured.
