Detectives are on the hunt for a man who may have crucial information regarding a suspected murder in Sydney’s south-west. This follows the discovery of a deceased individual in a residence in Croydon Park yesterday. Emergency services had responded to a welfare concern around 5 pm, where they found a 29-year-old Malaysian man with severe stab wounds, described by Superintendent Christine McDonald as “horrific.”

At the scene, a 32-year-old man was taken into custody and subsequently transported to Burwood Police Station. He was later admitted to hospital for an assessment and currently remains under police supervision.

Following the grim discovery, law enforcement established a crime scene at the Kembla Street property and commenced a homicide investigation. McDonald, the Police Area Commander for Burwood, characterised the incident as “a gruesome crime,” emphasising the severity of the injuries sustained by the victim. Initial investigations suggest that the case may involve a drug deal that has gone tragically awry.

McDonald stated there is no apparent relationship between the victim and the suspect, adding that it remains unclear whether the two individuals knew each other beforehand. Further inquiries have also not clarified who owned the residence or the presence of other individuals at the time of the incident.

Authorities are particularly eager to track down a man seen in the vicinity of Kembla Street on Monday afternoon. He is reported to have an Asian appearance, a solid physique, and was last identified wearing a black jumper adorned with red symbols, blue jeans, black shoes, a black hat, and carrying a black satchel.

Detectives are urging anyone with information on this man to come forward to assist in the investigation.
