Nine clinches exclusive broadcasting rights for the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics

Nine Entertainment Co. has secured exclusive audio-visual and non-exclusive audio rights to the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympic Games, ensuring that Australian audiences can enjoy the event from March 6-15, 2026. The coverage will be broadcast on Channel Nine, as well as through the streaming services 9Now and Stan Sport.

In addition to television coverage, Nine will also provide updates via radio stations 2GB, 3AW, 6PR, and 4BC. Various print and online mediums, such as The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Brisbane Times, WAtoday, The Australian Financial Review, nine.com.au, and wwos.com.au, will also feature comprehensive coverage of the Games.

Notably, the Milano-Cortina 2026 event will mark the 50th anniversary of the inaugural Paralympic Winter Games, which took place in 1976. The Games are expected to welcome around 665 para-athletes from 50 countries, participating in 79 medal events across six different sports.

Matt Stanton, CEO of Nine, expressed pride in the continued partnership with the Paralympic Games. He emphasised the company’s commitment to delivering the action and inspiring stories of para-athletes to Australian viewers across various platforms, allowing audiences to engage with the events whenever and however they choose.

Andrea Varnier, CEO of Milano-Cortina 2026, expressed excitement about collaborating with Nine, stating that from March 6 to 15, 2026, Italy will be the focus of international attention with events held in Verona, Milano, Cortina, and Val di Fiemme. He looks forward to delivering the exhilarating atmosphere of the Games directly to Australian fans.

Cameron Murray, the CEO of Paralympics Australia, highlighted the powerful narratives that the Paralympics represent. He articulated that these stories showcase incredible skill, resilience, and determination, inspiring all Australians. Murray reaffirmed the significance of partnering with Nine, especially following their successful coverage of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

He expressed optimism about presenting a capable Australian Paralympic Team at Milano-Cortina 2026, continuing the nation’s proud legacy in winter para-sports. The collaboration with Nine is anticipated to enhance the visibility and storytelling around these remarkable athletes, facilitating a deeper connection with audiences through Nine’s extensive media resources.
