A report from the UK suggests that Tottenham Hotspur is gearing up to dismiss Ange Postecoglou within days, despite his recent success in securing the Europa League trophy in his second season. Just over a week after a celebratory street party in North London, the club appears to be shifting its focus.

Postecoglou’s triumph has not quelled the ongoing speculation about his position, and it seems that breaking Tottenham’s long-standing trophy drought will not be sufficient to secure his job, particularly following a disappointing Premier League campaign that saw the club finish 17th—its lowest ranking since the 1976-77 season. The team’s performance included a record 22 defeats throughout the season without being relegated.

While no official announcement regarding Postecoglou’s dismissal has been made, it is believed that club chairman Daniel Levy, who has been overseas, and Postecoglou, currently on holiday, may be delaying the announcement until emotions from the trophy win have calmed. Reports from various UK media outlets indicate that a decision has already been reached regarding Postecoglou’s future.

Potential successors include Brentford’s Thomas Frank, Fulham’s Marco Silva, and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, with Frank emerging as the leading candidate. Additionally, changes within the club are anticipated, as Levy has confirmed that Vinai Venkatesham will take over as the new chief executive. The introduction of a new medical team and sports science department is also on the cards for the off-season. Should Postecoglou depart, the incoming manager would be the 17th to take the helm at Spurs during Levy’s tenure.
