Newcastle Knights prop Leo Thompson has received a four-match suspension following a crusher tackle incident involving Dragons lock Hamish Stewart in last Friday night’s match, where the Knights suffered a 20-6 defeat. The NRL’s match review committee classified the tackle as a grade-two offence, marking Thompson’s third such violation. If Thompson contests the charge but is unsuccessful, his ban could extend to five matches.
This suspension comes as a significant setback for the Knights, who are currently struggling at 14th place on the ladder with just four wins from eleven matches.
