A group of prominent Australian athletes and entertainers have joined forces to address domestic violence in a compelling YouTube video. Featured personalities include actor Hugh Jackman, footballers Darcy Moore and James Sicily, as well as actor Eric Bana, singer Vance Joy, cricketer Usman Khawaja, comedian Hamish Blake, and others.

The video calls on men to take a stand against domestic violence, particularly concerning violence directed at women. Moore opens the discussion by acknowledging the common refrain of “not all men” when talking about violence against women, asserting that while not every man is violent, all men have a responsibility to contribute to its eradication.

Jackman emphasises the serious impact of family violence, stating that it inflicts significant harm on countless Australians each year, while Bana refers to it as a “national disgrace.” Vance Joy insists that it is crucial to speak out against such behaviour, advocating for meaningful change.

The message culminates with Moore urging men to actively reject disrespectful behaviour and refusing to excuse acts of violence, underscoring that collective action is necessary to combat violence against women within the community.

This initiative, which has been organised by Chief Justice Will Alstergren AO, is a response to a troubling trend, highlighted by statistics showing that in 2025 alone, 31 women have died as alleged victims of domestic violence, following 69 deaths in the previous year. This illustrates the urgent need for social change and the crucial role that men can play in fostering a safer environment for women.
