Gina Rinehart remains the richest person in Australia, according to the 2025 Financial Review Rich List, although her fortune has declined by $2 billion to $38.11 billion. Despite this drop, she continues to lead the list for the sixth consecutive year.

Australia boasts a total of 161 billionaires, an increase from last year’s 150. New South Wales holds the majority with 81 billionaires, followed by Victoria with 55. The ten wealthiest Australians collectively hold $202 billion, reflecting a significant decrease of 9.2% from $222 billion in 2024, largely due to falling iron ore prices.

Notable shifts in the top ten include Kerry Stokes entering the list at tenth, with a net worth of $12.69 billion, while Nicola Forrest edges out her ex-husband Twiggy Forrest, securing ninth place with $12.83 billion. Meanwhile, Atlassian’s co-founder Mike Cannon-Brookes has fallen from the top ten.

Highlights include:

  • 10. Kerry Stokes – $12.69 billion: The West Australian media mogul has moved into the top ten list, joining 18 fellow billionaires from the state.
  • 9. Nicola Forrest – $12.83 billion: After her separation, she gained more shares than her ex-husband, Twiggy Forrest.
  • 8. Ivan Glasenberg – $13.85 billion: Former CEO of Glencore, he sees a slight drop in fortune but retains his stronghold as the company’s largest shareholder.
  • 7. Michael Dorrell – $13.9 billion: A new entrant, he is celebrated for his success with Stonepeak, an infrastructure firm managing $101 billion.
  • 6. Melanie Perkins and Cliff Obrecht – $14.14 billion: The Canva co-founders rise in the ranks as their company expands into AI, with promises to donate significant portions of their wealth.
  • 5. Clive Palmer – $20.12 billion: Despite his recent political misadventures leading to a drop in fortune, his rank has improved.
  • 4. Scott Farquhar – $21.42 billion: The former CEO of Atlassian now leads various charitable initiatives while attempting to make a significant impact in the tech sector.
  • 3. Anthony Pratt – $25.85 billion: The Visy boss rises as his wealth increases substantially.
  • 2. Harry Triguboff – $29.65 billion: The Meriton founder enjoys a notable increase in wealth, reflecting a robust property sector.
