Shortly after 4am, emergency services responded to a fire on Irrara Street in Croydon. Fire crews successfully extinguished the flames, but the blaze caused extensive damage to the residence and led to the roof’s collapse. Tragically, a body was discovered within the wreckage, although the individual has not yet been formally identified.
Authorities from Fire and Rescue NSW are currently conducting a search of the damaged property for another person who remains unaccounted for. An investigation into the incident is in progress, and a report will be prepared for the coroner to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire.
