A serious house fire in Chadstone, Melbourne, has left two young girls and a woman fighting for their lives. Emergency services rushed to a townhouse on Terrigal Street around 9:40 PM yesterday, where firefighters encountered flames engulfing the roof. Upon entering the building, they rescued a pair of primary school-aged girls and a woman in her thirties, all of whom were subsequently transported to local hospitals in critical condition—the girls to the Royal Children’s Hospital and the woman to the Alfred Hospital.
The fire was brought under control within approximately 35 minutes. Fire Rescue Victoria reported that the blaze primarily affected the bedrooms and ensuite on the upper level of the home, causing significant structural damage, including a partial roof collapse. The rest of the property experienced extensive smoke and water damage.
Authorities have deemed the fire suspicious and have initiated an investigation into its cause. A crime scene has been established, and an arson chemist is set to examine the site. Police are reaching out to the public for assistance, encouraging anyone with information or footage related to the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
